Hello, World! I’m Dana!
I am a modern explorer and the voice behind Missbeachykeen.com. I was born and raised in very cold, yet beautiful Toronto, Canada.
When I was 18 years old and a fresh graduate from high school I moved from the comfort of my hometown to the opposite end of the world to live my dream studying abroad at the University of Wollongong.. I had never been to Australia or knew a single soul in this seemingly far away beautiful land, but my young self-was fixated on a dream I had to achieve. After the best four years of my life, I achieved my Bachelor of Nursing.
I am a registered nurse and love my profession. I specialize in Practice Nursing in which entails working with a General Practitioner in medical centres. However, my real passion is travelling. Since my initial move from Canada to Australia, I have caught the travel bug, and it has consumed me.
I now advocate others that moving yourself, your possessions and your comfort zone across the world is not as hard as it may seem. Travelling to me is such an important part of my life, and I can confidently say that travelling and the choice to move my young self across the world has shaped me into the person I am today. I love sharing my experiences, travel knowledge and adventures, and that is why I created missbeachykeen.com.
My second biggest passion is scuba diving. Since I was little I knew all about scuba diving. Before I was born or even thought of ,my parents were scuba diving. They even got their scuba diving certification on their honeymoon and fell in love with the sport. My dad even lost his wedding ring in the ocean while on their honeymoon. When I was growing up as a child, my parents were always off on scuba diving trips across the globe. When I was old enough, I got in on all the action myself. At this time, I unfortunately was more focused on boys and other silly things that consumes a teen’s mind and the beauty and interest in scuba diving got pushed in the background.
Years later I reentered the scuba diving world and fell in love. The sport has grabbed a hold of me and has taken me to the most beautiful places one cannot image. I am currently a PADI Rescue Diver and also currently working on my PADI Dive Master. My last year while living back at home in Canada has revolved around Scuba Diving as I helped manage a local dive shop in my hometown.
I now embark on a new adventure as I dust myself off and venture back to Australia to endure a life lived on the beach, my weekends filled with scuba diving and my spare time updating the world of my adventures.
